Nesting

Dear John Luke,

You were so anticipated.
I loved putting together all of the details to your first room.
We chose an "airplane" themed nursery because your daddy loves all things aerodynamic related. When he was a boy he had so many toy airplanes and we have incorporated many of them into your room. I can't wait for you to be able to pull all of them out of their places one day and play with them.
Your room went under a lot of changes. When I was out of town one weekend your daddy surprised me and painted the walls cobalt blue. I had been eye-ing this color since I knew you were a boy! I tend to like warm or neutral tones but I remember thinking it would be so fun to have a bold colored nursery. I don't think I could have been so brave to do it, so I was so excited to come home and see it finished! Your dad painted the walls & ceiling, built you a closet, changed out the light fixture, ripped up laminate flooring and built your crib, dresser, & rocking chair all out of tiny pieces.
I mostly sat and kept him company - making sure you were comfy in my belly.
One of my most favorite memories was when I washed all of your tiny little clothes and got to hang them up on those precious tiny hangers. I couldn't believe I was going to have something to hold that little so soon. Sitting in the rocker, holding my belly, staring at the tiny clothes, and praying over you was something I will always cherish as I waited for you to enter our world.

*My most favorite detail in your room is your quilt. I was so excited to pick out all the patterns and have it made for you.. I hope you cherish it forever and that it brings you comfort and future mommy snuggles.

these were your dad's when he was a little boy

.....And now my little aviator, you are here & I can't imagine our world without you.
